Preparations are now well underway for picking up and sailing Blue Venture, a Nicholson 26, from Hythe on Southampton water. It is starting to look like I will have to sail her round single handed, a prospect that is both frightening and exciting in equal measure.
My passage plan is to sail to Osbourne bay on the Isle of Wight and anchor until morning then catch the East bound tide to Brighton marina, if I make good time I may get as far as Eastbourne. From there it is my plan to again catch the tide and press on to Dover for another stop, before heading round North Foreland to the Thames and Medway. Two areas of concern are Selsey Bill and the straights of Dover/Goodwin sands. Well the whole trip is an area of concern to be honest. Of course no plan survives first contact. Fortunately I have 3 weeks leave in which to get her round. But with luck I should have it done in 3-4 days. Once she is on the buoys in the Medway I will have a couple of weeks to get her set up how I want and to go for a few trips.
My initial plan is to sail on Friday 11th July, however I am realistic enough to know that this may slip.
