Tides were big at the start of September so I took the opertunity to put Blue Venture on the scrubbing posts and give the hull a long overdue clean.
So early hours of Sept. 2nd I brought her along side and waited for the tide to go out. As she settled on the bottom her bow started to point down. I managed to halt this with some rope and a lump of timber wedged under the bow.
The hull was as manky as hell with a thick carpet of weed, barnacles and gunk coating everything.

I got out the jet blaster and by 8 am had the hull cleaned off. Then scraped off any remaining barnacles and waited for the sun to dry things off before applying all the anti foul paint I had left lying around.
It looked a lot better once I had finished by 3 the tide had her afloat and motored back out to my mooring ready for sailing the next day.

The following morning I picked up my mate Richard and was all set for a days sailing. Unfortunately the outboard refused to start, wouldn't even fire. So I dashed back home and got the electric outboard and eventually we got out to the mooring.
We were away by 8 and were soon motoring then sailing down the river. By low tide we were out by the Montgomery and then sailing back. we had one hairy moment when we touched the bottom a couple of times. The tide was so big it was shallower than I realised.
Once back at Stangate Creek we anchored and had a late breakfast before a spot of fishing and some kite flying.
We headed back to the mooring and were all tied up by 4:30. It was a good day out after a lousy start.
Off to Queenborough on the 5th for a trip with the club.
