Topped up the fuel and freshwater and took a stack of photo's of the engine compartment. Next job change the fuel filter and maybe flush and change the engine coolant. Plus re-new the plastic hose that shows the fuel level as it is impossible to make out with it stained diesel colour.
It was quite choppy on the way out and while I was faffing about on board the wind picked up a bit more. So I locked up and made my way back . it was quite lumpy crossing the reach and in the corner of the sea wall in front of the boat club and marina the clapotis was nasty. So I headed straight to shore and leaped out and grabbed the front of the boat to pull it ashore. When I looked at the back of the dingy the engine had been knocked off the stern and was lying in the river. It was in only a foot of water so easy to retrieve. I have given it a rinse in freshwater but now it does not start. So it is in bits in the garage being worked on. Hopefully after a thorough drying out it will go again.
